OTICON'2013: TRIVANDRUM Will you not be there?

It was an honor to be there at Trivandrum on Nov. 5-6, 2013 to get informed about the preparations and arrangements being made there by the Organizing Team for hosting the Golden Jubilee of annual Academic Meet of AIOTA from Feb. 26-28, 2013 with International participation.

I sincerely appreciate and also congratulate Dr Sunny Joseph, the Org. Secretary and his team for making dedicated efforts in providing all possible comfort and convenience to not only the delegates intending to participate but also student delegates too that is usually overlooked, in regards to our past experiences.

The accommodation arrangements finally chosen in consultation with me for delegates and students are superb and quite economic. Auditorium finally selected is in heart of the city ie adjacent to Civil Secretariat. Almost all places including the dormitories for student delegates were personally visited by me with Org. Secretary, before finally deciding.

With the Arabian Sea in the west, the State of Kerala, also known as God’s own country; enjoys unique geographical features that have made it one of the most sought after tourist destinations in Asia. Trivandrum with an equable climate, a long shoreline with serene beaches, tranquil stretches of emerald backwaters, sprawling plantations and paddy fields is certainly a must visit place. Kerala the cleanest state of India also happens to be India’s most advanced society with 100% literacy. It has India’s lowest infant mortality and highest life expectancy rates. Such is the beauty of the State of Kerala and its capital Trivandrum, that it is attracting many overseas OT’s to participate in the conference.

Academically also the 50th Annual National Conference of AIOTA will prove to be a milestone for the future conferences. Renowned academician in Pediatric OT- Ms. Toni Thompson USA will be delivering the Key Note Address encircling the theme of the conference. Other eminent overseas Guest Speakers delivering talk on topics of vivid interest  and are in process of finalizing are:  Ms Mari Butler, Newzeland , Nathan Vyatlingam (Malaysia),  former WFOT Vice President and Dr. B.D. Dasari  (UK); the only OT with double Ph.D.

Scientific itinerary I am sure would be wisely knit by Dr Ebenezer W. Rajkumar, the Chairman Scientific Program Committee to provide you all a good academic exchange. The added attraction of the conference will be Pre-conference COTE on 26th Feb. by eminent speaker from India. Very soon the finalized schedule will be displayed on websites. I am confident that the scientific program in the conference would promote knowledge dissemination with scientific contributions from researchers, educators and practitioners for manifold growth of OT in India.

But the key factor for the success of the conference is undoubtedly one, and it is: your Active Participation: for a positive outcome. The Org. committee is looking forward to extend you all a warm welcome and assure you of great hospitality and comfortable stay.

So will you not be there to become an integral part of this gala meet?

Thank you

Dr Anil K. Srivastava
