OTICON 2013 - Inauguration



Dear All,

The Organizers of OTICON 2013, thanks all of you without exception, for your active participation and support for this mega event ‘OTICON 2013’.  

This conference was remarked with the presence of Chief Minister, Finance minister, Minister of Social justice & empowerment of Kerala and Vice-Chairman and Executive Head of the Kerala State Higher Education Council etc… 

We are extremely happy to inform you all that the Chief Minister of Kerala Shri. Oommen Chandy, who inaugurated the conference, promised that the government would take urgent measures to ensure that the services of occupational therapists were available across the State.

Finance Minister K.M. Mani, who released a souvenir of the conference, said that occupational therapy was an important allied science of modern medicine, which helped in the training and rehabilitation of people with disabilities and that the government would render all support to develop it as a major speciality.

Social Welfare Minister M. K. Muneer, pointed out that the Department of Social Justice was coming out with a lot of initiatives, in which occupational therapists had a huge role to play.
The ministers asked the Kerala branch of AIOTA to submit a proposal on starting a course in OT, which the government would fully endorse and support.

At this junction we believe that the effort we put for the upliftment of occupational Therapy profession in this state through this conference is in the positive track. This belief gives us further inspiration and enthusiasm to continue our enduring to uplift the profession in our state.
At this moment, we are great full to all our AIOTA executives, senior professionals and mentors for their immense guidance, constant support and constructive criticism. 

We extend our deepest tribute and most sincere appreciation to all KBAIOTA members and beloved OT students from Kerala, for their exceptional help before and during this conference.

The media also gave us a great support. 7 different newspapers (5 in Malayalam & 2 in English) and 6 news channels (All Malayalam) reported this event. [you can see some of the newspaper cuttings below]

Once again we thank everyone who helped us to make it as a grant success.
